Typecasting - Workshop #12

May 28, 2018

In this workshop we explore typecasting, which is a form of visual shorthand used by the industry to quickly establish a character without giving too much detailed information.

Basically, you are cast on what your appearance suggests, whether true to your reality or not.

So ask yourself these questions when watching the above:

* How old is the character?

* What class are they from: working, middle or upper class?

* Do they look educated and intelligent or not?

* Are they a hero or a villain? Or potentially both?

If you don't know your 'type', you are going to struggle marketing yourself to the industry.
